Starlight Charcoal, 1 Box, 10 Rolls, 100

Starlight Charcoal, 1 Box, 10 Rolls, 100 Tablets

Starlight Charcoal, 1 Box, 10 Rolls, 100 Tablets

Love these things!!! I use to purchase them by the roll at a local store and each roll was $1.75, at this price it's a steal. They are easy and fast to light, and last 20 to 30 minutes. I use them to cleanse the house and they are perfect for palo santo, frankincense, copal and loose white sage.

I thought these would be like the charcoal we used when I was an altar boy back in the 60's. Sometimes the charcoal would not stay lit and I would have to get the matches in the sacristy and try to re-light the briquets. These disks are different. They are impregnated with a fine fuel (metal particles?). All you need is the flame from a butane lighter on the edge of the briquet. The sparking begins almost immediately, but may be hard to detect. I would suggest holding it with tongs, or immediately put the charcoal in a burner, because the disk becomes very hot, very quickly. I place the incense on the briquets's recessed surface. It will continue to burn the incense for up to an hour. When done, you will have a cake of ash that is easily disposed of. I'm thinking of storing these pellets in a metal box for safety reasons. I dread to think of a what would happen if the whole box ignited indoors.

They work really well but be ready as they spark a bit when you first ignite them which may startle you a bit. They're thick about 5/8th of an inch and about the size of a half dollar coin in diameter. They'll burn about an hour. Brass charcoal burners will get hot to the touch so put a ceramic plate under it. I started breaking the charcoals in quarters as I don't usually require an hour of burn time and it works great. I'd like a smaller size next time but with 100 disks that I break up I'll be good for a while! And I'd Buy These again.

These things are truly amazing! You just light one edge of the charcoal with a lighter...it only takes a moment...and the charcoal finishes lighting itself. I have never seen anything like it. Truly amazing! It burns with zero charcoal smell. It is "cup" shaped on top, providing you with a perfect place to put frankincense, or other aromatics. I must reiterate: the only thing you smell is the aromatic thing you are burning on top of the charcoal, there is no charcoal smell.

We are very satisfied with this product, would buy again, and would recommend to a friend.

Wow does this stuff get hot! I'm kind of new at using charcoal for incense, so it took me a few times to figure out how the "flame" spreads across the coal during lighting. I was expecting a full flame that would move across the coal, perhaps like a BBQ briquette, but it's more of a sparkling flicker. My other observation was the need to hold the igniting flame against the coal until you notice the steady spread of the sparkling flicker moving across the coal. My first few times I think I moved the flame away too quickly. But wow, once it has lighted and the sparkling has covered the coal, it gets super hot...which is exactly what I want for burning incense. My other advice as a newbie is to make sure you have the coal resting on some rocks, or preferably some appropriate sand. I used aquarium rocks and my thurible (brass incense cup burner) still gets extremely hot, so also be sure that the surface that the thurible or metal cup sits on is heat resistant. The ideal scenario, of course, would be to have a hanging-type thurible and stand, rather than a cup-style thurible.

In any event, this box of 100 coals was the best bargain I could find on Amazon and for the price, this amount is a bargain.

These light well and burn for a long time- good for incense, but smoky to begin with while it self-ignites so its kind of an outdoors type of thing or if you live in a church it might be alright. Don't know about smoking hookas with these though- talk about chemicals! But to each his own and maybe the chemicals burn off to begin with. When I left an opened roll outside for a week it definitely didn't light as well- and it was high humidity outside and cold- but I took it back inside and left the bag open for a couple days and they light just fine again. If you are having problems getting these to self-ignite to begin with, high humidity could be part of your problem?

out of 100 rolls of charcoal, i have used two "cakes" ...the first lit as i expected....it sparkles across the face of the charcoal and began to glow quite nicely, quite quickly...almost like the Chinese (who made it) add a little gun powder in to force ignition... the second cake did not.....i had to hold a bic lighter to it for 20-30 seconds to get it to burn....the jury is still out on the remainder of the rolls as to whether they light like the first....aside from the "quick light" feature, its charcoal and it burns as it should once its lit....buy it, its inexpensive and does the job

These perform perfectly. Lit it up to spark almost immediately. These are definitely fresh. Lights up quick. Wait time is less than ten minutes. I prefer to start these up outside. Or, if you have an exhaust fan in the bathroom, that will work fine too. DO NOT light these in your house. Go outside,.......light it,...........when they're done sparkling/sizzling/smoking, go back inside.

I've purchased many of these charcoal briquettes, of different brands, and from various sellers. These are by far the best! They're easy to light and they stay lit! Will definitely purchase these again.

The charcoal pucks light so easily, and burn for a good bit of time. Super easy to utilize. The charcoal has a central cupping for the inscent resins and flares throughout the charcoal disk, which creates an ember throughout the entire charcoal disk. There is a slight scent which enhances the inscent resins (my opinion of course :) and combined with the pure Frankenscence resin, reminds me of my younger days going to a porochial school. Super happy with this purchase! Thank you so much for helping bring back some good ol days memories 👍
